Lőrinc Barabás

Lőrinc is a trumpet player, jazz musician, composer and band founder, an outstanding figure of the Hungarian improvisational music palette. His music balances on the edge of electronic and jazz. Since 2005, he has released two albums with his band, Barabás Lőrinc Eklektric.

In his solo project, Lőrinc plays his songs on trumpet, keyboards and laptop. In recent years, he gave several concerts, both solo and with various bands, which have brought him international recognition. He performed at such prestigious events as the Montreaux Jazz Festival or the London iTunes Festival. He gave concerts with Valerie June, Takuya Kurodava, and shared the stage with Bonobo.

At the end of his university years, Lőrinc joined Irie Maffia, and then founded his first band. Between 2009 and 2010, he lived in London, where he led an impromptu evening series at a bar in Shoreditch. He then attended an electronic music producer course at SAE Institute in New York. In 2013, he released his album Sastra, while another, Elevator Dance Music was released in 2015. These meant taking further steps towards eclecticism. Owing to his unique style, he performed as supporting act on stage before Thievery Corporation at Veszprém Fest in 2016. This year, he released an album entitled Other than Unusual.

Lőrinc Barabás arrived at the Jazz Department of Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music from Kőbánya Music Studio. He graduated in 2006. On March 15, 2010, he received the Youngsters of March recognition for his artistic work.
